With their vision, ConvaTec needs to have a strong foundation for innovation and be able to improve and develop new products efficiently. Product improvements and new products can have a massive impact on patient’s lives, so it is important that the tools to manage NPD (New Product Development) projects are also up to date.
To improve their ways of working, ConvaTec set out to introduce a set of new digital and automated processes related to NPD Project Management, the objectives were:
As ConvaTec started looking for a new system that could support their ambitions, they eventually chose the model-driven Power App, Power PPM. ConvaTec was already familiar with Microsoft Office 365, and thus Power PPM fit well under their IT infrastructure to handle a more systematic approach to manage their projects and portfolios. The Power PPM solution kicked off at the end of 2020.
Today, ConvaTec uses Power PPM for managing a number of projects, using a stage-gate process to progress ideas through to development, execution & eventually launch. The system even allows for automated stage-gate approvals, which provides a seamless workflow that eliminates a lot of wasted time. Power PPM has also enabled more efficient creation of documentation through automated flows that generate project documentation direct from the PPM tool.
Finally, the system integrates everything in reports through Power BI, allowing them to stay on top of the business and drive wider business discussions on the health and balance of their portfolios, track process and understand where resources are being used, and much more.
Together with Projectum, ConvaTec has experienced off-the-shelf, out-of-the-box adaptable solutions with minimal configuration. As ConvaTec was used to using Microsoft-based applications, it was very easy for them to adapt. The solution met all the needs and on top of that, the possibility of integrating with other tools supporting the company’s ambition for an enhanced digital business.
Additionally, The Power PPM has enabled ConvaTec teams to build project tasks consistently and efficiently through automated flows, and inter-connected tags to sign teammates to projects and tasks.
